About Me
Hi! I’m Emma, and I’m so glad you’re here. Welcome to my little corner of the internet where I share teaching ideas, classroom resources, and reflections on all things education.
I’ve been teaching since 2015. I teach English and Humanities—think History, Social Studies, and all the good stuff in between. I’m a big believer that every student deserves access to high-quality education that’s not just meaningful but actually fun. Whether it’s diving into a good novel or cracking the code on an ancient civilisation, I’m all about making learning exciting, inclusive, and something students look forward to.

On this blog, you’ll find a mix of teaching resources, creative lesson ideas, and personal reflections on the realities of teaching. I am not a perfect teacher (no one is), but I believe that through collaboration and honest discussion we can keep on improving, so I grateful to have you join me on my journey.

My Teaching Journey
I first began my teaching career at a senior college, working with students in Years 10 to 12. It didn’t take long for me to realise that strong relationships, a sense of fun, and genuine pride in my students’ growth are the foundation of great teaching. Those early years taught me that success in the classroom comes from showing up as your authentic self and believing in every student’s potential. I spent about five years at the senior college, developing my craft and learning so much from both my students and colleagues.

After that, I took a brief detour into the world of primary teaching. While I have endless admiration for primary educators, I quickly discovered that it just wasn’t the right fit for me. From there, I found my sweet spot in middle school, working with students in Years 7 to 9. I love the energy, honesty, and emerging independence of this age group—it’s such a rewarding stage to teach.

Currently, I’m working at an inclusive 7–12 high school where I have the privilege of leading the English Curriculum team. It’s a dynamic and diverse environment that challenges me to think creatively and collaboratively every day. I'm passionate about building an English program that supports all learners, celebrates student voice, and inspires a lifelong love of reading, writing, and critical thinking.
